GALLOWAY, August 3, 2015 – Strengthening its global presence and continuing to respond to customer demand, Linode, a leading provider of cloud-hosting services, has opened its newest datacenter in Frankfurt, Germany. Linode selected Frankfurt for its eighth datacenter because of the city’s central European location. More than a third of Europe’s Internet traffic travels through the digital and financial hub of Frankfurt.

Linode’s Frankfurt datacenter doubles the company’s capacity in Europe, complementing their London location, and enables German customers to comply with Germany’s Federal Data Protection Act (a.k.a., Bundesdatenschutzgesetz) that requires data to be hosted on German soil.

“There is a growing demand for hosting infrastructure across Europe,” said Linode CEO Christopher S. Aker. “There is an exciting startup and technology development scene in Germany and throughout Europe. We are pleased to expand our simple and powerful cloud services to developers, entrepreneurs, and businesses in the region.”

In addition to Frankfurt and London, Linode has datacenters in Singapore; Tokyo; Atlanta, Ga.; Newark, N.J.; Fremont, Calif. and Dallas, Texas. With datacenter-grade SSD storage, Intel E5 processors, a 40Gbps redundant network, and KVM- powered hypervisors, Linode is making better and more reliable cloud services available around the world.

“We lead our market in experience and performance,” COO Thomas Asaro explained. “Uptime, processing power, bandwidth, throughput, and customer service are all benchmarks where we consistently outperform Amazon and Google. By reinvesting profit into our infrastructure and strategically expanding to meet consumer demand, we are able to provide the most accessible and reliable cloud servers on the market.”

Linode is using TelecityGroup’s colocation and datacenter services for both of its European locations. “Telecity’s state-of-the-art facility, highly secure environment (certified to ISO 27001), and robust connectivity options were all important factors in making our selection,” said project lead Brett Kaplan. “The TelecityGroup team built a track record of delivering reliable service for our London location, making them the logical choice for Frankfurt.”

Linode has not yet identified the location for its next datacenter, but Aker said Linode continues to monitor areas of the world where technology growth is skyrocketing, creating an increased need for the company’s reliable cloud computing services.

About Linode:
Linode is a leading cloud hosting provider founded in 2003. Today the company boasts more than 400,000 customers worldwide with eight data centers total – four in the US and four in Europe and Asia.

Subscribers can create a cloud server with Linode in under a minute for as low as $10 per month. Users can then dynamically scale their environments to meet business demands – paying for only what they use, with no long-term commitments.

Christopher S. Aker created Linode with the goal of offering developers powerful and reliable cloud servers at an affordable price. The system interface offers an intuitive control panel that users can replicate on a larger scale using the company’s simple API. The company’s platform also enables customers to fully customize their environments and choose from a menu of add-on features, such as system-metrics-reporting service Longview, backups and NodeBalancers, Managed Services and Professional Services.

In February 2015, BuiltWith.com ranked Linode – home to more than 580,000 websites on the Internet – in the Top-10 of all web-hosting providers. Additionally, CloudHarmony indicates a greater than 99.99 percent average for service availability throughout Linode’s datacenters.
