What’s a Ping? The Linux ‘Ping’ Command Explained
In this video, we’ll cover the ping command. The ping command tests the connection between the local machine and a remote address or machine. These commands send a small amount of data (an ICMP packet) to the remote host and wait for a response. If the system is able to make a connection, it will report on the “round trip time” for every packet.
