Any suggestions for spam filter/virus scanner?

Hey guys,

The setup right now is postfix with amavis. amavis I configured to use spamassassin, razor, and clamav. Anyone have a suggestion to replace Amavis and ClamAV? Right now Amavis is taking up 18MB and ClamAV 12MB of RAM.

If you are just looking to filter SPAM, you can dtch Amavis and just use spamassassin. For email virus scanning and spam filtering, I don't think there is anything better (and free) like Amavis.

There's MailScanner (http://www.mailscanner.info/, Debian package "mailscanner"), but I don't know how good it is. I'm running clamav+amavis+spamassassin, and see what you mean:

amavis … 18m … amavisd-new

root … 17m … clamd

However, I'm not sure I'll switch to mailscanner… Although it takes some memory, amavis+clamav work quite well (BTW, I got absolutely no reports of viruses after having installed clamav).
