Freelancer Assistance with Web Server Setup
I'm new here and was advised by someone at Linode Tech Support to post to the forum here.
Disclainer: I probably know enough about server setup and administration to get myself in trouble versus being particularly proficient at it. That said, I'm hoping someone might be able to point me towards an individual or outfit that can assist a small independent company that happens to have a fairly heavily trafficked site into setting up a development and a production environment, as well as migrate our website off Softlayer to Linode.
Please feel free to ask any specific questions and I'll answer to the best of my ability, but essentially we have a high traffic (+- 5MM views per month) ExpressioneEngine based website that is in the final stages of redevelopment that we'd like to relaunch on Linode. I'd like to setup a development environment that we can continue dev and testing on, as well as production environment that mirrors is as best as practical. Obviously I'd like to performance tune it as best as possible, which I'd guess would include setting up a proper caching system (Varnish or the like), as well as ensure that the webserver and DB is as slim and tuned as can be. I had a freelancer get us most the way through an Ubuntu / Nginx setup before getting too bust to complete it. Assume at this point, its best to start it over from scratch, but from the research I've done and understanding I have of it, it seems to be a pretty ideal setup for our application.
Anyhow, I don't have a ton of budget, but believe I have enough to make this worth the while of a freelancer proficient with this sort of thing. Please feel free to post general questions here in this thread or if you have anything more specific or private, please feel free to PM me and we can trade emails, phone numbers or Skype account info.
I'm not in a huge hurry, but we're far behind the schedule we had hoped for, so hoping to get things rolling asap. That said, with the right person involved, I'm willing to work around your schedule if its fairly reasonable. Also, I'll probably setup Linode Managed services, but always seem to have ideas and requirements we'd like built out, so if all goes well, assume this could lead to additional gigs.
Also, just a heads up that I've posted this offer in a couple places with the hopes of moving it along towards a solution, so please reach out right away if this gig interests you.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, feedback or assistance.
Best,
Allen
