Can't download emails with large file attachment Dovecot

Hi,

I am using CentOS 5.9 with postfix+dovecot v1.0.7

I have problem in downloading emails with attachment of more than 3MB via my email client. (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc) I can send emails out with more than 3MB without any problem, whereas i can't download emails.

Following is the error i found on maillog

dovecot: pop3-login: SSL_write() syscall failed: Bad file descriptor

dovecot: impa-login: SSL_write() syscall failed: Bad file descriptor

After this the email client stops downloading emails.

What could be the problem ? Please help me fix this . Thank You

sussane,

It could be your Postfix config. Look at the messagesizelimit info on this page: http://www.postfix.org/postconf.5.html

MSJ

Message size limit is set to 20MB …

I suspect it could be dovecot or SSL issue ? plz help me isoloate the problem. Thx

sussane,

I see old (2006) errors similar to yours that are related to the dovecot loginprocesssize setting.

The errors you posted are usually generated by client connections.

  • Can you set up this account on another device and see if you can download the large attachments?

  • Have you tried testing it with the SSL requirement turned off?

Hi,

I've tested on multiple computers with different email clients, problem persist. Later i changed to imaps only.

Now the problem is fixed and main problem seems to be related to only pop3 and pop3s..
