Basic DNS question: third party dns management

DNS for a domain I'm now wanting to host a website for on linode is managed by a third party service, namely the domain registrar.

I can change the ip address for the A records for the domain and the www subdomain on the third party ok to point to my VPS at 173.255.213.174

But was wondering what I need to do at the Linode end in the DNS manager. Do I need to create a zone for the domain and if so what records need to be added?

Any help appreciated…

If you're happy with the DNS service your registrar provides, then you don't need to do anything.

You may want to change your reverse DNS from li###-###.members.linode.com to something like whatever.example.com, but this is not strictly necessary.
