Longview net graphs are inconsistent and sort of wrong

If I look at the "All Traffic" graph on the "Network" tab or "Network" on the "Overview" tab it shows that my system uses basically zero bandwidth. The "v4 Public" graph seems like it might be closer to reality, but I'm not sure. For example, the data point for 7:25AM this morning shows 1KB/s & 6KB/s Out/In on the "All Traffic" graph but 171KB/s & 8KB/s Out/In on "v4 Traffic".

If I look at the old traffic graphs they are pretty close to the new "v4 Traffic" graph, but it's tough to tell since Longview doesn't give min/max/average for a time period.

The network graphs have been on our todo list. We've been talking about the network graphs in #linode-beta and fixes are in the works!

Specifically, a bug in the current client deletes the last digit of the outbound traffic value, effectively dividing it by 10. It's been fixed – or the fix is known, at least -- but a new version hasn't been released yet.

You can mentally multiply by 10 when reading your graphs if you want to.

Edit: The All Traffic graph is a 1-minute average while the v4/6 Private/Public graphs are 5-minute averages. I'm guessing that that is the reason they disagree, and that they are accurate, but I've never done the math to verify it.

Yes, the new package will be released for download soon. You'll see what appears to be differences between the 5 and 1 minute graphs, but they average together to be the same amount. We'll let everyone in #linode-beta know as soon as the new package is available (besides the Linode Manager telling you!)
