Setup VPN port forwarding HELP!!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for taking the time to read this forum post. I've been trying to setup VPN port forwarding for growl notifications. I've had a developer test the settings setup on my Linode VPN on a mac and this has worked successfully. When it comes to testing on a windows PC this fails to work.

PS: Firewall has been turned off on my windows PC, no other firewall/AV software is running or installed.

Any suggestions will be great.

Try changing the Windows wallpaper - I find astro pic's often work best with VPN systems.

So a waste of a comment. Thanks anyways idiot!

I've tried the following:

  • Setting up Iptables using the following (http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions … vpn-client">http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/55791/port-forward-to-vpn-client)

  • Port forwarding on home router

  • Disabling Firewall

Setup PPTP using the following link (http://www.rockia.com/2012/03/install-p … n-1-minute">http://www.rockia.com/2012/03/install-pptpd-vpn-on-xen-centos-6-in-1-minute)

Zero details. Asking a NETWORKING question without providing any networking information, or config information, or exact error messages, etc is a COMPLETE WASTE of everyone's time.

Before you start slinging around the "idiot" tag, I'd look at your own noobish attempt at getting other people to solve YOUR problem.

FYI: PPTP is a broken protocol, has been for decades, only noobs and morons still use it.

Can you tell me why PPTP is a broken protocol?

Config files, logs, error messages, diagrams of configuration, tcpdump output, routing tables, anything?
