site down after pointing nameserver to linode (please help)

Hi. My old host was horrible and that's why we're setting up here. I have two domains. They are the same, but one is .net and one is .org.

I set up the .net site last week as a temporary measure (while the old host was down, we redirected to .net to keep a site up). Now we are ready to go all in. And I've set up .org and tested it fully by changing my hosts file in windows and pointing to the IP address with the .org domain. Everything is great. I thought that changing the DNS whois nameservers would keep both sites up and functioning until the change propogates, but as soon as I did that at the old host, the site went down completely (Network tcp error).

Any ideas??

Thank you!

Do you have the correct records setup at Linode since you changed nameservers? What A records do you have? And are you using any subdomains to access the site?

The domain name and your linodes IP would help with diagnostics

Yes of course.

Thanks obs!

landartgenerator.net - domain name that was temporary. It's working fine now and the dns transfer seemed smooth.

landartgenerator.org - the important site that seems down now, either as a consequence of my dns change or just because they are down.

IP is 50.116.11.90

Cancel everything!

dreamhost VPS was completely down coincidentally at the same moment that I changed the dns entries. The site seems to be loading now, but also seems to be the dreamhost version (based on a small change in the homepage text).

It's coming up on linode fine for me :) you probably have cached dns records they'll clear up in a day
