yum tries to downgrade my kernel (centos 6.2, kernel 3.0.18)

I'm trying to install vnc-server on my new linode running centos 6.2 and kernel 3.0.18. When I do 'yum install', it lists kernel 2.6 as one of the packages it wants to install.

Isn't that going to downgrade my kernel?

Long Answer = Unless you're running pv-grub (i.e. custom kernel on your VPS) it doesn't matter what yum does kernel-wise, you'll be running whatever kernel Linode is basing their VPS on.

Short Answer = ignore it.
