Poor transfer on 64bit

I have a 32bit CentOS and a 64bit CentOS Linode. Both 512.

I wget the 100mb.bin file from Atlanta1 and on the 32 I get the file in 30 seconds and the 64 I get the file in 57 seconds.

Am i missing something?

Cheers,

Tom

Your Linodes are in London, and you're pulling the file from Atlanta - across the Internet. Your Linodes have different IPs - likely in different subnets.

Different IPs will take different routes TO and FROM across the Internet, and this can cause differences in transfer speeds. It's not because of your Linode's kernel.

Don't worry about it.
