Why are you getting a UNmanaged VPS service when you're interested in Cpanel/Plesk and need someone to install that for you?

It will turn into a money pit if you need to hire someone to do all your sysadmin tasks for you. Updates, patching, security config, ram optimization, log monitoring etc will all eat up time that's on the clock - not to mention the cost to fix something that breaks (fix it now no matter what time/day/holiday it is isn't cheap).

And assuming you mean the 512M Linode when you say "entry level", you won't have any memory left to run any apps after you install a control panel (Cpane/Pleskl 512M min, 1024M recommended).

Seems like the safer choice would be to stick with a Managed service that comes with a control panel and whatever apps you need to run all set and ready to go.

I didn't realize there was an "entry level" on Linode? My "entry level" was a 1024, so I'm guessing you're referring to this? :)

Why spend money on cPanel when you're already paying for a VPS that doesn't come with it? That's extra money. If you really want a control panel, go for something free, like Webmin. I'd recommend doing everything through ssh, though. Much more secure, not that hard to learn, and more options available to you.

If you insist on cPanel, click the Search link up top (between FAQ and Memberlist), and type in cpanel as your search term. This topic has been posted several times in my short stay at the forum.
