Need Advice: Apache or Cherokee for small site

I need to setup a WordPress site on a Linux-flavored VPS. My web dev experience is on the .NET shared hosting side so this is a whole new world for me. I could use some advice.

Research has led me to believe that Ubuntu is good OS choice for beginners so I've already installed both the server and desktop versions and are trying them out. Where I really need some advice is with the web server. I initially thought that Apache would be the best choice but research has made me rethink this. Cherokee seems to get alot of high marks from those who are looking for a light-weight web server. Apparently it is easier to configure and requires less tuning. My site will probably only need to serve several thousand pages a day so perhaps Apache is overkill.

I read this blog post

http://claytond.com/2011/06/29/why-i-li … ng-others/">http://claytond.com/2011/06/29/why-i-like-linode-after-using-others/

from fellow Linoder Dennis Clayton who migrated all of his sites from Apache to Cherokee and has "never looked back".

One area of concern to me regards just how many people are using Cherokee so that when it does have problems are there many people out there who can help.

I would appreciate any suggestions? Thanks.

Also the Ubuntu / Cherokee tutorials on Linode are for Cherokee 0.99.39 and Ubuntu 10.04. Anyone working with more current versions?
