DHCP IP

Is there any reason why I would want to force my linode to be the IP that your DHCP is giving it?

If you don't want to have the dhcpcd (dhcp client) process running all the time, you could set everything up static.

dhcpcd also blows away /etc/resolv.conf, which can be annoying.

Or, if you have multiple IP addresses, you might as well configure the "main" IP along with the additional IPs at the same time.
