Reddit looking for alternative hosting offers.

According to one of their admins (jedberg), they are looking "for another hosting platform"[1]. Would Linode be a good hosting provider for a project such as Reddit?

Sure. In fact, since reddit is moving to local storage, and Linode uses high-performance local storage, it seems like Linode is not just a good hosting provider for reddit, but an ideal hosting provider for reddit. They get all the vertical and horizontal scalability they want, a fast private network internal to the DC, better pricing than Amazon…

I, too, would love to see reddit move to Linode. They've been showing me nothing but stupid error messages since they started using EC2, and last week's outage just shaved a few more 9's off of their already poor uptime record. It is the sign of a poorly designed cloud if a single glitch causes multiple datacenters to go down at the same time. Oh, and Amazon isn't cheap, either.

Another part of my soul, however, vehemently opposes any attempt to move reddit to a more reliable provider. Imagine how much productivity the world is going to lose for every additional hour reddit stays up! :D

I agree a reliable, scalable and affordable hosting like linode will be great for reddit .
