Long Waits Between Shutdown and Boot

Hello,

Up until today, the delay between a manager-initiated reboot which involves a shutdown and a boot, specifically the time between "System halted." and seeing Grub in LISH (I use pv_grub) was pretty short. Perhaps 10 seconds.

Starting today however, that delay is two minutes or more. I use custom configured and installed kernels, making sure to enable the features in the kernel howto specific to Linode. Regardless, I did not see this delay with either a Linode or custom kernel until today.

To test that, I booted one of my kernels then issued a reboot in the manager. The two+ minute delay was there. Then I booted a Linode kernel, and the delay was not there. One more try on my kernel, and the delay was there.

What am I missing here? It appears to be specific to my kernels, however, even they were not seeing this problem before today – what changed?
