Linode and Domain Registration

Hi.

I have a registered domain with a 3rd party registrar. I'd like to single-source my solution if possible:

  1. Does Linode provide domain registration services?

  2. Can Linode recommend "easy to work with and reputable" domain registrars to work with?

  3. I see Linode has a DNS manager. Can this be used with an externally purchased domain without issue?

Regards,

Mike

Hey Mike,

  1. Does Linode provide domain registration services?

Nope, but as you've noticed we do provide a DNS management interface so that you can configure registered domains to work with your Linodes.

  2. Can Linode recommend "easy to work with and reputable" domain registrars to work with?

Many of our customers use Namecheap or GoDaddy. I personally use Namecheap and can attest to its ease of use with Linode's services. Here's a reddit discussion with some more recommendations: Best Domain Registrar - Top Recommendations

  3. I see Linode has a DNS manager. Can this be used with an externally purchased domain without issue?

Absolutely yes. Just make sure to configure your domain to point to our nameservers using your registrar's interface. For more instructions, check out this guide: DNS Manager Overview

Thanks BBigger. Enabled the Linode nameservers and took control of the DNS records. Thanks for the enabling links.
