Nameless webalizer error

Hello all, thanks for looking,

I was logged into webmin and tried to manually generate a webalizer report for a particular domain:

~~Then, I got the following output which cites an error for failing, but provides no information.

Running Webalizer to generate report from /var/www/vhosts/handheldrecords.ca/log/access.log ..

Webalizer V2.01-10 (Linux 2.6.32.12-linode25) locale: C
Using logfile /var/www/vhosts/handheldrecords.ca/log/access.log.3.gz (gzip-clf)
Using default GeoIP database
Webalizer V2.01-10 (Linux 2.6.32.12-linode25) locale: C
Using logfile /var/www/vhosts/handheldrecords.ca/log/access.log.4.gz (gzip-clf)
Using default GeoIP database
Webalizer V2.01-10 (Linux 2.6.32.12-linode25) locale: C
Using logfile /var/www/vhosts/handheldrecords.ca/log/access.log.2.gz (gzip-clf)
Using default GeoIP database
Webalizer V2.01-10 (Linux 2.6.32.12-linode25) locale: C
Using logfile /var/www/vhosts/handheldrecords.ca/log/access.log (clf)
Using default GeoIP database
Webalizer V2.01-10 (Linux 2.6.32.12-linode25) locale: C
Using logfile /var/www/vhosts/handheldrecords.ca/log/access.log.1 (clf)
Using default GeoIP database

.. Webalizer failed! See the output above for details.

Any thoughts at all? I've tried a few different users, www-data and my own user that owns that domain's files. No change. I've also toyed with different permissions on the log folder and webstat folder, still no luck.

At a total loss here, any help is greatly appreciated.

Bung~~

I don't use webalizer but the error message is cryptic to say the least, is there anything in syslog?

unfortunately there is nothing in the syslog.

I have found something strange though,

my /var/www/vhosts/handheldrecords.ca/log/access.log was empty, 0 bytes. However when i visited the site and stuff it was stored in access.log.1 … have i got my logging messed up?

I tried renaming access.log.1 to access.log but webalizer still failed.

all the log files and directory are www-data:www-data.

Im so lost :'(

wow ok i figured it out…

i did $ sudo webalizer and got a new error, it couldn't find /usr/share/GeoIP/GeoIP.dat

So, I managed to install that (the apache module and the file itself) and it's working perfectly now, yay!

glad you solved it, as for your access.log.1 problem that is caused by logrotate rotating your logs.
