Sending SMS through SMTP
This is the page which gives a little detail on how they allow a user which has a bsnl id to send sms.

Open Outlook Express –> Click on Tools --> Click on Accounts-->Click on Mail --> Click on Add -- Click on Mail-->Fill - Display Name: e.g. A K Sharma-->Click on Next --> Fill - E-mail address: -->e.g.
aksharma@sancharnet.in --> Click on Next-->Select My Incoming Mail Server is a POP3 ServerFill - Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) Server: -->e.g. wmma.sancharnet.in for Western Region-->e.g. smma.sancharnet.in for Southern Region-->e.g. nmma.sancharnet.in for Northern Region -->Fill Outgoing mail (SMTP) Server-->e.g. wmra.sancharnet.in for Western Region-->e.g. smra.sancharnet.in for Southern Region-->e.g. nmra.sancharnet.in for Northern Region-->Click on Next --> Fill - Account name: e.g. aksharma-->Un-tick Remember password --> Click on Next --> Click on Finish-->Select the Account --> Click on Properties-->Click on Servers --> Tick My Server requires authentication-->Click on Settings --> Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server-->Click on OK --> Click on Apply --> Click on OK --> Click on Close-->Open Microsoft Outlook --> Click on Tools --> Click on Options --> Click on Send -->Under section Mail Sending Format, Click on radio button Plain Text-->Click on OK to save your settings-->Send SMS by fillingmobileno@sms.sancharnet.in e.g9899999999@sms.sancharnet.in in TO/BCC/CC field-->Send Email by filling email address in TO/BCC/CC field

Enter Sancharnet Email User Name and Password
Click on Compose
Enter
mobilenumber@sms.sancharnet.in in the To: field to send SMS to the mobilenumber of your choice (Do not prefix '91' or '0' before the mobile number)Enter the short message text in the message window.
Text under Subject will not be displayed in SMS.
Click on Send and relax. SMS will immediately zip through to the mobilenumber.
You may Enter upto 10 mobilenumbers separated by commas in To: field to send SMS to 10 recipients simultaneously. Enter each mobilenumber as
mobilenumber@sms.sancharnet.in .Each SMS delivered per recipient is charged @ 30 Paise to your Sancharnet account
You may also use any other POP Email Client configured for Sancharnet to send SMS.
SMS Service is available only from BSNL IP Domain.
Check your SMS Count and Account Balance on Sancharnet Website (
www.sancharnet.in )In SMS, Source Address displayed will be only first 11 charaters. In case of UserId of length greater than 11 characters, either first 11 characters or SANCHARNET will be displayed as SMS Source Address. BulkSMS Customers should try to get UserId of maximum 11 characters.
