Upgrading from Intrepid

Gents and ladies,

I'm growing increasingly nervous about running Intrepid as it ages, primarily due to security concerns. Has anyone else upgraded a LAMP server from Intrepid on Linode? Did anything untoward occur? I've done some searching and haven't seen anyone who had major issues (and I do intend to take a full-disk backup first) but I'm still looking for insight on the proverbial road ahead.

Important: Don't upgrade over an SSH session. Use the console (LISH). Other than that, you just need to pay attention to which configuration files you want to overwrite.

In addition, if you want to upgrade all the way to Karmic, you may have to change your kernel to the "Latest Paravirt" series.

Oh, man. I hadn't even thought about that - I'll make sure to do it the right way. Thanks!

Doing it inside a screen session via SSH is just as safe as LISH, although LISH has less potential for things to go wrong (such as hitting the wrong key combo and killing the screen session).
