Full Restorable Ubuntu Backups

I'm wondering how to make a full restorable backup of my linode.

I have set up mysql dumps and tar's of the public_html which will give me daily backups of my content, however I'm also keen to have a full restorable copy of the linux instance that is now running.

I've signed up to the beta backups service and it's running flawlessly, though I'm not overly keen to test a restore on one of these, and would be happier to download something solid and complete to my home system.

Thanks,

Moses.

A couple methods here:

I don't know if it's possible, but I'm interested too!
