Am I the only one that got this attack?

I just checked my logs, and I got 9558 failed FTP logins. Anyone else get this brute force? It's in the 189.216 addresses.

Brute-force attempts are pretty much a routine fact of life on the internet. It is up to you to make sure that they do not succeed.

A good start would be to review this:

Especially the section on DenyHosts and Fail2Ban.

Oh, and just so I can be the first to say it, you shouldn't be running ftp. Anything that sends passwords over the internet without encryption is just asking for trouble.
