cPanel WHM Default Backup Directory Using Block Storage

Hello Everyone!

Apologies up front. While I'm very familiar with cPanel and basic command line tasks, I'm not familiar with working with external drives on Linux/cPanel based web servers.

I have typically had dedicated servers with a physical second drive for backups that the datacenter would have configured for me.

I currently have a Linode VPS and I just setup and attached a Linode Block Storage to the VPS that I plan to use only for backups. I want to use cPanel's WHM built-in backup features.

Within the WHM backup configuration you setup the backup directory in the Default Backup Directory field.

Is it as simple as entering a path to the attached block storage for the VPS? Or is it REQUIRED to map the attached block storage to a /backup/ directory on the main drive? (The latter I'm unsure how to do)

If it's as simple as putting in a path to the block storage in the Default Bckup Directory field, what do I put there?

Linode is giving me this info for my block storage:

/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-0LinodeVolumeBackup /mnt/Backup

Would anyone familiar with this be kind enough to take a minute to explain this?

Sorry for noobish question.

Thanks!!

Larry

I was able to figure it out.

I ended up setting the block storage to automaticly mount whenever the vps boots.

Then under the Default Backup Directory I put: /mnt/Backup/backup (the 'backup' on the end is the directory to put the backups in on the /mnt/Backup block)

I then had to disable Mount Backup Drive as Needed since the block was auto mounted whenever the vps boots.

I just manually initiated cpanel backup and its running like a charm!
