HOWTO: Build an Openfire Chat Server on Debian 5

I've written a tutorial on setting up the Openfire real-time collaboration (read: chat plus a lot more) server on Debian 5. While the tutorial is geared toward folks who are installing Debian in a local VPS environment, it will work on any Debian system (such as a Linode VPS).

You can have a look at the HOWTO here: ~~[http://www.classhelper.org/articles/debian-openfire-chat-server/" target="_blank">](http://www.classhelper.org/articles/deb … at-server/">http://www.classhelper.org/articles/debian-openfire-chat-server/](

Thank you for the tutorial. I have been searching for this kind of application. I will try setting it up with mysql instead of postgresql.

The Classhelper website is excellent! I intend to share that resource as well.
