Test Accounts

Hi,

I wanted to ask - are there test accounts at the data centers where one can log in and test how fast is SSH and uploading?

I am thinking to move to another DC (currently in Atlanta) and I wanted to make some more tests apart from pings and downloads.

Thanks,

Yuri

I don't think Linode does test accounts.

Since you seem to be an existing customer, why don't you just add a Linode 360 in a datacenter of your choice and see for yourself? If you don't like it, you can just hit "remove". The unused portion of your monthly fee will be immediately returned to your account, which you can then use to offset your next month's fee.

Hybinet is definitely right about how to handle a "test" account.

Also, one thing to keep in mind when you're testing: SSH by default performs poorly (relatively) over high-speed links when there's any significant latency. See this paper:

http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/hpn-ssh/

for explanations and patches.

There is also http://www.linode.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2636

The idea to buy a Linode 360 for test is a good one.

Thanks for the tips :)
