Can not telnet on port 25.

I have a dovecote postfix setup and locally I can telnet port 25 send and recieve mail. When I try it from an external machine it just hangs there waiting.

postconf -n gives me…

alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases

alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases

appenddotmydomain = no

biff = no

config_directory = /etc/postfix

luser_relay = corcoraj

mailboxsizelimit = 0

mydestination = jcorcoran.net, li33-170.members.linode.com, localhost.members.linode.com, localhost

myhostname = mail.jcorcoran.net

mynetworks_style = host

myorigin = /etc/mailname

readme_directory = no

recipient_delimiter = +

smtptlssessioncachedatabase = btree:${datadirectory}/smtpscache

smtpdbanner = $myhostname ESMTP $mailname (Ubuntu)

smtpdrecipientrestrictions = permitmynetworks permitsaslauthenticated rejectunauth_destination

smtpdtlscert_file = /etc/ssl/certs/ssl-cert-snakeoil.pem

smtpdtlskey_file = /etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key

smtpdtlssessioncachedatabase = btree:${datadirectory}/smtpdscache

smtpdusetls = yes

virtualaliasmaps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtual

I have tried this from different machines so I do not think it is a firewall issue.

Any pointers?

Thanks,

Jason.

I can connect to it on port 25. Perhaps the host you are checking from has port 25 outgoing blocked?

Thanks,

Seems the 2 different networks I checked from where blocking port 25. Went to an internet cafe and all is good.

Thanks again.

Jason
