Server Not Dispatching Emails
Hi,
I have recently just purchased a website which is hosted on Akamai.
It is a Wordpress blog and Xenforo forum.
All my past experience is with cPanel.
None of the automated emails are being dispatched from the CMS'. The support ticket I opened with Akami have said they are unable to help but looks to be something Firewall related.
Is anyone able to help?

Without any error codes or the domain name that's experiencing this issue, it's hard to determine if your ports are closed or the exact reason that could be causing this.
If your ports have been lifted by the Support team, there's a chance that there's a misconfiguration with your mail server or your ports are closed. You may need to check your configuration to be sure that your mailing services you are using are active behind those ports and confirm that your firewall is enabled to allow these connections. You can check your firewall rules by referring to the following guide and make the necessary adjustments:
These following guides could also help you troubleshoot your email configuration in case there's a misstep:
- Troubleshooting Web Servers, Databases, and Other Services | Linode Docs
- Running a Mail Server | Linode Docs
Lastly, you may also want to check any logs for your mail server to see if errors are preventing it from working properly.
Thanks for your answer hdiep.
I have also raised the ticket with Support and they advised the below, which is over my head.
*nmap -p 25,465,587 172.105.191.22
Starting Nmap 7.94 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2024-06-04 11:18 IST
Nmap scan report for li2150-22.members.linode.com (172.105.191.22)
Host is up (0.36s latency).
PORT STATE SERVICE
25/tcp filtered smtp
465/tcp filtered smtps
587/tcp filtered submission
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 5.02 seconds
The above result shows that the ports are filtered which means that there are some sort of firewall that is in action.*
I'm happy to pay for the changes necessary.
