Error 500
Does anyone know how to resolve an issue with error 500? I recently ran into this issue when I activated a plugin called SiteGround Optimizer.
I've been locked out of my website all day.
When I go to the site page it shows the following message :
💥💥 Internal Server Error 💥💥 -
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator (Linode Support??) at webmaster@localhost to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2.4.52 (Ubuntu) Server port 443
I have attempted the following :
- Created a Support Ticket
- Called Linode Support
- Attempted at LISH Console accessing the error - Unsure if I'm getting the correct information because I Rebooted the Linode and it only show 2 lines at the moment.
- Confused on setting up htaccess - When I go to type in sudo nano /etc/apache2/sites-available/example.com.conf it just wants to create a new file

This plugin has caused others problems. See
It can have issues with your .htaccess file.
It could take forever to find the problem so I suggest you either log in to the server via an SFTP client or via terminal SSH, find the plugin in the /wp-content/plugins folder and rename it… like "your-plugin.php-xxxxx or just delete it.
On a Linode VPS you are not going to get much in the way of optimization from it as you would on a shared hosting. You don't need it… so don't use it. Like all plugins, is just another thing that can go wrong!
