Why MariaDB is not an option for managed databases?

I like the managed database product and would love to use it by why is there no MariaDB option?

I'm not aware of any specific reasons why MariaDB is not apart of our Managed Database service or if there are plans to add support for it, but you can be updated as any new database types are added by noting your interest here or staying up to date with our blog. We are always looking for ways make the customer experience better on our platform, so I've added your interest in MariaDB to our internal tracking that our teams utilize for development. While I cannot guarantee if or when this feature will be implemented, we do take customer feedback seriously and appreciate all suggestions for potential improvements. For reference, a list of our current and planned database engines are available here.

Although we do not have MariaDB as an option for our Managed Databases, you could set up your own. We have a few available guides that you can refer to that can get you started, depending on your distribution:

I was also able to find a relevant community post and MariaDB's official guide on how you can maintain your own unmanaged MariaDB:

I hope some of these resources are helpful while you are considering your options moving forward.

Thanks. I'm already using MariaDB on my linode.
