How do I replace my old disc (Ubuntu 17.04) with something that supports updates (ultimate goal is to install SSL)?

I have had my website made 5 years ago and haven't used it in the meanwhile. Tried to install SSL watching Linode youtube channel, but quickly ran into the issue of Ubuntu 17.04 no longer supporting updates. What should I search for online to find a manual on replacing the old disk? And will the replacement of the disc "hurt" my website?

Since Ubuntu 17.04 hit its End of Life date on January 13, 2018, you will want to upgrade your instance to a newer distro version. This post from the Community Questions site titled How do I upgrade my existing Ubuntu installation? has instructions for upgrading your Ubuntu version. We recommend a "Migration Upgrade", also referred to in our documentation as a clean install. This process reduces the risk of breaking configurations you have in place on your instance.

Keep in mind, you'll want to upgrade to an Ubuntu "LTS" version, since they will be supported longer than versions that are not LTS.

Once you've gotten your website moved over to a new instance, you can then re-run the process for installing an SSL Certificate on your server.
