How do I upgrade my Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04

I've been trying to follow some random online instructions but I'm stuck trying to do the upgrade with …

The following packages have been kept back: linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic ubuntu-advantage-tools

I need to resolve this issue in order to move on. I'm also concerned that I possible require a certain "Linode" kernel build to be installed and feel as though a generic online upgrade guide isn't going to help me with this.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi there,

We have a really helpful existing #LinodeCommunity post regarding inline upgrades:

Personally, I like to advise against performing inline upgrades as they tend to result in tricky system errors. Unless your circumstance prevents it, deploying a new Linode on an updated LTS release, then copying over your workload, is a far more sustainable solution.

I understand that new IP addresses is a concern there but you can easily swap IP addresses between Linodes under the networking tab of your Linode.

Cheers,
Eric
