What's my SFTP username?

Use the user-name you gave yourself when you spun up your server. Same with the password.

It is not a good idea to log in as root… screw something up and brick your server!!

In fact, for security reasons it is best to not allow root login at all.

root logins are always available on the lish console. I took advantage of that today when I fixed a bug I introduced in my firewall wrt ssh.
