Can I run security tools on a Linode instance?
So I am the administrator of 3 ASNs (2 are data centers and 1 is a GPON / DOCSIS ISP) and manage the team dealing with routing / security for them.
I would like to know could we use a linode instance to run penetration testing from outside of our network? This can potentially reach the level of metasploit if we are dealing with a zero-day or other major event and want to see our network the way attackers would.

While performing penetration test on your own Linode servers and outside networks you run are allowed, you'll want to make sure to open a Support ticket if you'd like to perform any tests on servers that aren't your own. You'll also need permission from the owners of servers or networks that are not your own.
