What simple email client

What simple email client can I install in Linode Debian 10 distro that does not use PHP Perl Python or SQL? I thought of trying Sypheed (written in C) but some software is heavy on resources use and presumably not permitted although this may not be the case.

Any idea? Any comment?

Thank you for your help.

mailx…can't get more simple than that…

some software is heavy on resources use and presumably not permitted although this may not be the case.

You are the master of your own domain on your Linode. You can install whatever you want…resource-consumption-heavy or not. The only "not permitted" programs are ones that break the law (illegal gambling, spam generators, kiddie porn, etc) and subject Linode (the corporate entity) to legal exposure.

Personally, I would install roundcube… Although it's PHP-/SQL-based and requires a web server, it's simple to set up, use and administer. Because it's web based, it's available anywhere you might be.

P.S. If your usage is small and you use IMAP, you can use SQLite instead of MySQL as the SQL database roundcube uses. SQLite is a small, fast, self-contained database that doesn't use a server. It was designed for use in embedded systems…and, no doubt, the phone you carry around makes (heavy) use of it.

I don't run it any more but I had success with Mail In A Box.

However, I would not call it lightweight.

The OP asked for client recommendations. Mail in a Box is a server package.
