Looking for FTP info
I am looking to build a new WordPress website for my cousin's business. I want to move it to a host that I use for other websites.
Their current website was built using Joomla and, from the searches I've done online, is hosted by Linode.
There are two problems:
- We cannot get access to the backend of their website. When we log in, we just get a blank white page. This seems a fairly common issue from what I can tell with Joomla sites. I found this error message: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error). The only support/advice I've got from Joomla or the Joomla community is that this is a hosting issue. So I've come to Linode.
- The second problem is no one in the business has ever heard of Linode and it doesn't seem like they're paying any hosting fees. So we have no access to their Linode account, if one exists. I have tried the 'recover username' function by entering in their email addresses in the hope their Linode account was linked to one of those, but they haven't received anything so it doesn't look that's it.
My support ticket to Linode has so far gone unanswered so I'm here asking for any advice anyone has.
I really just need to find the FTP username and password to give to the new host so they can transfer the current website to them. But how can I do that if a) I can't get into the backend and b) I can't access the Linode account or get Linode to tell me the FTP info?
(Obviously I have all the log-in details provided by the business for the backend of their website, and permission to access it).
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do here?
Thanks.

If you are going to build a new WordPress site on an ISP, why do you need the backend of Joom? I don't think there is much you can import from Joom that will work on WP.
Assuming their Joom site resolves OK, just find a theme that resembles their current Joom site… or create the theme yourself (perhaps by just using blocks?) and re-build it in WP… copy the pix and the content and pop it in a new WP instance.
If you post the URL to the Joom site here I might be able to be of more help. (Building WP sites is what we do… NewMediaCreate dot com.)
[Speculation]
(Since you are not a Linode customer, your ticket will probably have a lower priority and since you are going to move the site away from Linode (assuming it is here) the priority is probably even lower for them to answer!!)
