Domain servises
I am very new to web stuff so i need to get some ideas straight. So i registered a domain on porkbun… naturally started adding dns reconds to configure stuff on porkbun. then i eventually found linode and started hosting a nextcloud and added records for that too on porkbun. I notice that there is domain servises on linode also. My question is , why would i need domain records on both linode and porkbun? Are these basically the same type of service that both website offer? if so would there be a benefit to migrating all records over to linode?

Some people believe that it is best to have the nameserver as 'close' to the actual website as possible. Thus, they point DNS services from the registry over to the domain hosts by putting in the hosts's nameserver addresses (most often two of them.)
With most commercial hosts, when they handle the DNS services it is less work for you. Linode (and most cloud servers) are not commercial hosts in the true sense so there are some extra steps you need to follow… although there is not that much to do to use the Linode DNS functions.
I prefer, to keep all the DNS 'stuff' for my many sites at the registry level (PairDomans.com) and just use the DNS records (A, MX, etc.) to send traffic to where I want it to go.
Take your pick on whom you want to handle the DNS… no wrong answer that I can see… but others probably know more than I do about this. stuff.
