how do i edit my mcserver settings after making it following websplaining's 24/7 mcserver video?

SO i made the server following this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w-j5-wgRZ4
im new at using linodes or any kind of command stuff and the video doesnt say anything about editing options like increase view distance. I would use the one click app but thats outdated so here i am.

To edit those options, you would use a text editor like vim or nano to edit the server.properties file.

You mentioned being new to the command line, so if what I said above sounds foreign to you, I would highly recommend learning basic Linux commands first since:

  1. You're going to need to know them to run a Linux server.
  2. Linode is a non-managed VPS service so you're pretty much expected to handle most of the configuring yourself.

@LouWestin so do you know what the command to nano server.properties?

I would read up on how to use vim or nano. It’s not some command that you just run and bam, it works.
