"A MAC Address Update Is Required. Contact Support."

I am trying to swap IPs between two Linodes but I get the message:
"A MAC Address Update Is Required. Contact Support."

I need urgent help because our service is down now but your support is not answering.

This is something that Support will need to do on our end. We have eyes on your ticket and will be updating you soon.

The cause for an error like this is because a Linode was created with a Dynamic MAC address. A couple of years ago, we switched to creating a Static MAC address as part of supporting IPv6 SLAAC addresses. By opening a Support ticket for this, we can make that change on the back end and rebuild the networking rules on your Linode to have that change take effect.

For urgent matters, we always recommend giving us a call. This is the quickest way to get our immediate attention on a matter. Assigning a Static MAC address is something we can handle within a couple of minutes.
