How do I transfer an admin subdomain to be active in my linode account?

Hi All,

Super beginner here. I have a small non-profit and we hired a web designer to build our site. Long story short he left the picture with our website only (barely) half functional and left no instructions how to edit our website. He created an admin function that looks like "admin.website.org/DB" but this page, subpage or subdomain (don't know what it is called) is not active. Do I need to add it to my linode in addition to the domain? I appreciate any advice from this wonderful community. Y'all have really helped us in the past and are the only reason our website is active at all. <3

I would suggest in your case, take your content: images, text etc and rebuild the site onto a content management system like Wordpress.

Reasons being: First, we don’t know what he did, how things are setup, if anything is setup correctly, and how things will be to maintain in the future.

Secondly, something like Wordpress wouldn’t be too difficult to get a fully functioning site up and running.

Also make sure the domain name is pointing to the server; A records are correct. I doubt there needs to be a sub domain.

Another thing to consider too is, with Linode being unmanaged, you’re solely on the hook for making sure the server’s OS is updated with any security updates that come out or upgrades. Also keep in mind that operating systems do have an EOL so you’ll want to keep a note of that too.
