ssh home and end keys are maping ~

Probably something really stupid, but I'm not having any luck figuring it out.

Basically when I ssh into my linode and press either the home or end keys, my system beeps and a ~ is all I get.

The linode is running Ubuntu 6, and the login shell is bash. client is Gentoo with login shell of bash. I can ssh into other machines not related to my linode, and this doesn't happen.

thanks for any help….

Puting

"\e[7~": beginning-of-line
"\e[8~": end-of-line

in /etc/inputrc

Worked for me. Basically CNTL+V then type home to get the text to put in before the :
