Configure virtual hosts on Apache server before DNS record transers

I am migrating existing wordpress sites to linode hosts, and I have configured the host (LAMP) for virtual hosting of multiple sites. The first site is up and running, and the DNS records for the site have been transferred to Linode.

The problem I am running into now, is that I cant complete the install for the other sites. I am confused about how to access the other virtual hosts without having the DNS records point to the new Linode. I would like to set up the Wordpress sites first, them import the current site to make sure everything is running prior to cutting over the DNS records to use the new linode host.

I am very new to this tool set, so I am am sure I am missing something obvious. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
-Sean

Hi Sean!

We have a guide on configuring your Apache virtual hosts file for multiple WordPress sites that may help get you pointed in the right direction.

For moving the DNS records from your current provider to Linode, our How to Migrate a WordPress.com Website to Linode guide includes a section on migrating DNS.

I hope this helps!
