Volume Reliability and Uptime

More of a general question. We have a db of around 1.3TB and growing at around 1.5GB a day and have the DB data path on one of the volumes mount. I am wondering how reliable these volumes are (noticed that Linode commits to 3x replication) for database related tasks? I guess, I am trying to find out if Volumes automatically failover to the backups during scheduled maintenance and/or failures?

Volumes are quite reliable, and any maintenance or problems on our end shouldn't affect the operation of your database unless the problem is with the entire Block Storage service.

Just as a heads up, Block Storage Volumes have disk speeds that are bit slower on average than a standard Linode's disk, so some database tasks and queries may take a bit longer on a Volume.
