Migrating Custom OS
Hi All,
I am trying to migrate a custom Debian distribution but not having much look.
I have tried to clone an existing VM following this approach https://www.linode.com/docs/platform/disk-images/copying-a-disk-image-over-ssh/ and using dd. The image imports, selects the OS to boot and then fails to load.
I have also tried to install via an ISO image. This also fails at various points.
I would really appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions on the best way to accomplish this!

Hi Chris! The guide you linked with copying the disk over SSH should work for you. Are there any error messages that appear in your Linode's console when it's starting up?
It could be that the particular kernel your Linode is booting with isn't compatible with your custom distro. We have a guide on changing your Linode's kernel here:
