Network Transfer Question?

On the dashbaord

Monthly Network Transfer Pool = 721GB

On a VM

Monthly Network Transfer = 4997.3GB available.

My total usage is a combination of the both right? As long as I'm under 5.7TB I'll have no charges?

It may look confusing, but no need to worry.

Allow me to elaborate on how this works. You're seeing 2 different numbers because the monthly Network Transfer Pool shown on the dashboard is prorated.

Because the numbers on the dashboard and the Linode are not identical, this indicates that you created your Linode after the first of the month.

The Network Transfer Pool shown on the Linode is the available amount for a full, non-prorated. month.

Neither of those numbers should be added. You will not receive an additional charge as long as you stay under the 721GB displayed on your dashboard.

However, during a full month's service, you're exempt from overages as long as you stay within the 5TB that you're allotted with your Linode's plan. Overages are further explained in our guide Network Transfer Pool

With that said, once the clock strikes 12 on the first of the month (eastern standard time), you'll no longer see a discrepancy unless you add or delete a service during the month.
