Can I use DNS Manager without Linodes on my account?

Linode Staff

I would like to remove my only Linode. However, I am presented with a warning:

"I understand that my DNS zones will stop being served by Linode.com's DNS servers."

Why is DNS effected? I only want to remove a server. This has not happened when I remove other servers.

If you are using DNS Manager as your DNS service you will need to maintain at least one active Linode on your account.

When you try to remove all Linodes on your account, you will encounter the following messages that will require you to confirm your understanding that your DNS zones will stop being serviced by Linode:

"Are you sure you want to remove $your_linode?

There will be a checkbox you will need to check for this question:

"I understand that my DNS zones will stop being serviced by Linode.com's DNS servers."

Hope this answers your question.
