OpenVPN stucks about 1m

Hi,

I've installed OpenVPN using the tutorial provided by Linode.

http://library.linode.com/networking/openvpn/centos-6

The OpenVPN works great. However, I find a weird phenomenon. That is,

1) Once connected to OpenVPN, the whole Internet connection will be blocked for about 1 minute.

2) After other OpenVPN users connected, all connected OpenVPN users will be blocked for about 1 minute. And all OpenVPN users regain connections at the same time.

I followed Linode tutorial step by step, and I did the setup on fresh CentOS systems (both Linode and one other VPS service). Could anyone please provide me some thought to fix the issue?

Hi there,

Since you mentioned you've tried the guide with your Linodes and with servers from other providers, I would think some step in this guide is introducing this odd behavior. Given the fact that the guide has been deprecated, I would suggest you try the steps on this updated guide:

https://www.linode.com/docs/networking/vpn/install-openvpn-access-server-on-linux/

Also, I don't know if you are already aware but you can deploy OpenVPN via our One-Click Apps. Just know that for the moment, Debian is the only available operating system for the deployment.

I tested both OpenVPN deployments (using the guide and One-Click Apps) and none of them showed the behavior your described above.

I hope this helps. Have a great rest of your day.
