I would like to resize my Linode, how can I tell the time it will take?

I went to resize my Linode on cloud.linode.com, but there was no warning of how long it would take. I am worried my Linode will be down for too long. How can I figure out my downtime so I can plan around it.

If you are using cloud.linode.com there is currently no time estimate given for resizes. We are working on adding this functionality in an upcoming version. I do have some workarounds you can use today!
The first is using our Classic Manager at manager.linode.com. When you attempt to resize a Linode here https://manager.linode.com/linodes/resize/my_linode you will see a estimate for the time the resize will take.
You can also calculate the time yourself. This estimate applies only to migrations within the same data center. Usually resizes and migrations will take roughly 1 minute for every 3-5 GB you have allocated to a server's disk. If you have less disk space allocated than your plan provides, it's something to keep in mind.
