How to trust linode? Backup hangs when recovering

I have been a linode customer since 2009. And I am very disappointed with the service.

I'm trying to recover a backup from a small VPS and it's 4 hours ago at 49%, it never completes the operation.

Hey @iproute, we're looking into this issue now and will have ticket updates to you shortly. We're also sorry that you're having a bad experience with the Backup Service. Because the Backup Service is file-based, restorations for Linodes with high file counts (generally, greater than 1 million files) can take a long time to complete, even for smaller Linodes. We're also seeing a potential bug in Cloud Manager regarding Backup restoration progress reporting, which could be misrepresenting the actual progress of your restoration.

We understand that this can lead to a lot of frustration, particularly when facing downtime. While it doesn't help in your current case, given the limitations of the Backup Service, we recommend looking into backup alternatives for the future if you're unable to reduce the file count on your Linode. Nevertheless, we're taking a deep look at your current backup restoration and will off any solutions we can provide.
