Extremely slow internet connection when upgrading

Hello folks!

I just recently ran an upgrade command using sudo apt-get upgrade -y and the download speed is REALLY slow. It's approximately 120 kbps, and I actually did expect more. It took me a whole 15 minutes to download 141 MB. What could be the reasons for this to happen?

Is it a slow host, is someone else using my bandwidth? I have no clue, I'm not an expert with Linux.

It's running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Hey @Martini, sorry for the late response on this. We saw an issue with slow transfer speeds to our mirrors in London at about the same time you posted this question. We were able to resolve that issue shortly after it was detected.

If you're still seeing slow downloads or otherwise ever see performance issues in the future, please open up a Support ticket and/or give us a call so that we can investigate for issues on our end.
