did uncle xen skip town?

Any updates on why it's down?
If you need data off that drive, you'll need to go through me in a few weeks and I'll have the drives in hand.

Oh the glorious day I've anticipated for so long.
So, you have and idea of how long it will take before it's back up?

It might not be this particular host that is moved to a Xen test box, but I'd anticipate a xen3 test box within the next few weeks.
I spent most of last week bringing us up to date with Xen 3.0 (xen-unstable). There still seem to be a few bugs to be worked out that I'm hoping will happen soon.

Can't wait for it.
So while I'm definitely excited over Xen 3.0, I can understand why things are moving slowly. Do keep us informed from time to time, though!

well I have a xen node on another provider who has been running xen quite a while. Not sure what version. My uptime is about a month, so far so good. So it can be done.

Xen 2.0.
We had it running fine for months, but the beta box's drives ate it. Xen 2.0 is great, but you can only utilize 3GB-4GB of RAM, depending on hardware. Most of our hardware has 6GB or more, so Xen-2.0 isn't going to work in our environment.
All the stuff for Xen-3.0, with the expection of migrations, is implemented on my end. Just waiting for stability of the interfaces and with the code in general.

@gyver:
Did the linux-2.4 domU support come back in the latest Xen 3.0 releases or are there patches? At my job place we still use xen 2.0 for linux-2.4 support.
2.4 is history in Xen-3.0.

Just wondering what your plan is now, Caker. Wait for a couple of point releases? Start up a Xen 3.0 machine for volunteers?
I've played around with it at work and the I/O throughput compared to UML is quite impressive. Seeing as that's probably Linode's biggest weakness, this is exciting!
Linode.com - VPS - VDS - Virtual Servers - Virtual Private Servers - Virtual Dedicated Servers - UML Hosting - Xen Hosting - Xenode - Xennode
Looks like Xen is getting closer!
@Xan:
I notice that the

Good eye! I also noticed that xennode.com has been registered by Mr. Aker…
